Introduction to Bitstamp Exchange

Bitstamp is one of the oldest exchanges in digital asset trading. It was founded in 2011. The exchange was originally located in Slovenia, but due to the lack of sufficient financial and legal support in Slovenia, the registration was moved to the UK two years later. Unfortunately, due to the lack of regulation for digital assets, the UK crypto market did not meet the expectations of Bitmap's founders. In order to reassure customers about the security and legality of the platform, Bitstamp eventually settled in Luxembourg, a digital asset-friendly and regulated country. In April 2016, the Luxembourg government granted Bitstamp a license, allowing it to be fully regulated as a payment institution in the European Union.

Founder of Bitstamp

Bitstamp was co-founded by Nejc Kodrich and Damian Merlak, and its current CEO is Julian Sawyer. Julian is the co-founder of Starling Bank and has extensive career experience in traditional finance. In addition to being the CEO of Bitstamp, Julian is also a board advisor to Volt, an advanced Australian challenger bank, and an honorary senior visiting scholar at the School of Management, School of Business, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Bitstamp Exchange Security

Bitstamp experienced an extreme hack in 2015, where approximately 19,000 BTC worth approximately $95 million was stolen. The exchange was temporarily shut down to resolve the issue and avoid future security breaches. Bitstamp immediately notified users that their accounts and balances would be frozen. Since then, Bitstamp has worked to design a strong and complex security system to keep user accounts and assets safe. Currently, it is considered a platform with various security measures, including:

1. Key functions implement two-factor authentication (2FA)

2. Google Authenticator

3. Whitelist and transaction confirmation

4. 98% of assets are stored securely offline

5. Multiple signatures required

6. Highly encrypted personal data

Can Chinese citizens use Bitstamp?

Bitstamp is a global digital asset exchange that allows users from all over the world to open accounts, which means that everyone can trade digital assets and store them on Bitstamp, regardless of country restrictions.
